Master of Public Health (MPH) Department Organizes Freshers’ Reception for Spring 2008

The Freshers’ Reception for the New Batch of Master of Public Health (MPH) Program, Spring 2008, was organized by the Department of Public Health, State University of Bangladesh (SUB), on 04th March 2008 at 4.30 P.M in the Auditorium of SUB. Prof. Dr. M.S. Ilyas Dhami, Vice Chancellor, SUB, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Dr. M. Shahjahan, Advisor, School of Health Sciences, SUB, Prof. AYM Ekram-ud-Daulah, Registrar, SUB and Dr. Nawzia Yasmin, Academic Program Director, Department of Public Health, SUB graced the occasion.
The Program started with the self-introduction of the new students of the MPH Program. Prof. Dr. M.S. Ilyas Dhami highlighted the major strengths in academic, research, development and training areas in public health that can enable these national and international scholars doing well in their respective fields with advanced professional expertise and skill. Maj. Gen. (Retd) Dr. M. Shahjahan illustrated that Public Health students and professionals have a major role in health-care management within the health-care delivery system in a comprehensive and holistic manner. Dr. Nawzia Yasmin in her welcome speech emphasized that public health education at SUB aims at imparting training for future leaders in health care with appropriate skills to conduct research and policy analysis. Prof. AYM Ekram-ud-Daulah gave vote of thanks and encouraged the students to fulfill society’s interest in assuring conditions in which people can lead a healthy life.
Dr Suman Lahiry, Academic faculty, Department of Public Health, conducted the Program. On behalf of the new students, Dr Shoaib Ahmad from Bangladesh and Amrendra Ray from Nepal shared their impressions and expectations with the audience.
The program ended with a grand cultural program performed by the students of the MPH Program and staff of SUB.
